Golf Course loses 80 members in one year.

But don't worry. Everything is fine except the club house, board says.

In one of the possibly most tone-deaf Heritage Hills Annual Board Meetings to date, the board finally fesses up that 80 members left last year.. (24 local members and 56 PAR members which presumably cuts membership to nearly half of what it was. PAR members are those outside of the 69001 zip code which typically join for less membership fees.)

Last year, golf dues were raised by hundreds of dollars leaving many members in disbelief. Prices were written about previously here.

People used to wonder what would happen once a bunch of the old guys died and there was no one left to pay dues…we’re going through that simulation and I’m not sure if the course, which is half-owned by the city and receives tax dollars from the tourism board will be able to endure.

According to witnesses, the board which replaced one member, Johanna Scott with non-shareholder Michelle Terry, was unphased by this number.

Hey, at least they’re not cooking the books and giving money to their spouses!

Prices will stay exactly the same despite this number. According to witnesses, the board stated that there are new golfers from the East drawn to the course (by luxurious price tag?). The ideal strategy, according to the pro and others is to build a new club house. Money may not be available for such lofty dreams so perhaps just repairs to the existing club house but if members keep dipping like they did last year there won’t be anyone left to enjoy the repairs.
